Guided Hands®, an internationally award-winning assistive device created by ImaginAble Solutions, is now available for hire through KimTech! Key Features of Guided Hands®

Guided Hands® has a number of ingenious features to support a wide range of user needs:

  • Encourages Guided Hand Movements: Its sliding system promotes gross motor skills in the shoulders, reducing reliance on fine motor skills in the hands.
  • Multipurpose Utensil Holder: Compatible with pens, pencils, paintbrushes, markers, and styluses for versatile use.
  • Ergonomic Design: Features an adjustable wrist rest and strap to ensure maximum comfort.
  • Ambidextrous Functionality: Handpieces are designed for both left- and right-handed users, accommodating different levels of mobility.
  • Adaptable and Wheelchair-Friendly: Can be mounted on a wheelchair tray for added convenience.

This Assistive Technology (AT) device is purely mechanical with no electrical components, making it easy to use without any extra setup or equipment.

Why occupational therapists love Guided Hands®?

Guided Hands® is an excellent addition to any occupational therapist’s toolkit. It can be suitable for clients with conditions that affect fine motor skills, to access functional, work, school and leisure activities.

Guided Hands® enables clients to participate in daily activities by utilising the gross motor skills of their shoulder rather than relying on fine motor skills in their hand. It supports the development of range of motion, shoulder control, and sensory-motor skills, while moving beyond hand-over-hand assistance to encourage communication and independence.

It is suitable for users with high or low muscle tone who can stretch their elbow slightly forward. With multiple handpieces included, it can adapt to various grip preferences and abilities.
